New CEO at Kids TLC

Gordon Docking has been named president and chief executive officer at Kids TLC, an Olathe-based organization that works with children and families facing challenges from autism, mental health or wellness issues.

Docking succeeds Robert Drummond, who is retiring in August after leading the organization for nearly 13 years.

Docking comes from Nueterra Healthcare, where he is senior vice president of U.S. operations. Docking, who began his career in broadcasting, has held various senior management positions in the area’s health care industry, including serving as chief executive officer at St. Joseph Medical Center and St. Mary’s Medical Center.

Workplace winner

Heritage Christian Academy was named to a list of the Certified Best Christian Workplaces, making it one of only six Christian schools in the nation to make the 2014 ranking. This is the third consecutive year that Heritage has made the ranking, which is produced by the Best Christian Workplaces Institute.

Heritage, with campuses in Olathe and Overland Park, is a pre-kindergarten through grade 12 college preparatory school. It has about 500 students.

Freedom Award nominee

The city of Shawnee is one of five Kansas employers named as semifinalists for the 2014 U.S. Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award. The award honors employers that provide extraordinary support to the National Guard and Reserve employees.

The other Kansas nominees: Beechcraft, Wichita; Federal Aviation Administration, Wichita; ISi Environmental Services, Wichita; and Prairie Band Casino Resort, Mayetta.
