Children’s Lighthouse Learning Centers, which offers educational services for children as young as 6 weeks old, is expanding into the Kansas City area.
The company plans to break ground in December on its first center, a 10,000-square-foot building located at 135th Street and Greenwood Lane in Olathe.
The facility is scheduled to open Feb. 1. It will have about 30 employees, including 20 teachers.
The Fort Worth-based company said it plans to open up to five centers in the Kansas City area over the next three years.
Launched 18 years ago, the company has about 250 employees and 36 learning centers, including eight company-owned facilities. The remaining locations are operated by franchise owners. The Olathe center will be a franchise location.
Children’s Lighthouse also has 25 locations in the site development stage or under construction.
“We’re now reaching a very exciting point in our growth,” said Stephen Dixon, a Kansas City area native and chief development officer of Children’s Lighthouse Learning Centers.
The company said it focuses on providing quality educational phonics and math curriculum to children ages 6 weeks to 12 years old. Its services include private kindergarten classes, age-appropriate playgrounds, security-controlled building access and Internet video monitoring for parents.
Children’s Lighthouse will hold an information meeting for prospective franchise owners at 7 p.m. Thursday , at the Overland Park Marriott. More information: 817-529-0574 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
