A house-cleaning project in Roeland Park got exciting Sunday when people going through the basement of a home at 4900 W. 51st St. discovered what turned out to be a live grenade.
Roeland Park police were called to the scene at about 3:30 p.m. and immediately determined the grenade was live.
The Olathe bomb squad arrived to remove the grenade. It was not immediately known how the grenade wound up in the basement.
