Denise K. Miller has been appointed chief medical officer of Menorah Medical Center. The board-certified emergency doctor will oversee a staff of more than 600 physicians. She joined the Overland Park-based hospital in 2000 and has held several leadership positions, including medical staff president in 2011. Parris Communications has been named the public relations agency for Shawnee Mission Medical Center. Seven Kansas college students, including two from Gardner, will receive scholarships totaling $6,500 for the 2014 spring semester from a program administered by the Kansas Insurance Department. The financial aid comes from the Monumental Life Settlement African-American Scholarship program.
The two Gardner students are Stephonn Alcorn , who attends the University of Kansas, and Oreoluwa Alebiosu , from Kansas State University.
