Senior Antonio Jablonski and freshman Xavier Doering of St. Thomas Aquinas High School are taking part in the USA High School All-American Rugby Camp in Phoenix.
The High School All-American Winter Camp is based on a culmination of scouting during the most recent season and features 120 rugby players — freshmen through seniors — who were selected from around the nation to attend the camp. Players at the camp will be evaulated and a High School All-American team will be selected in January to represent the United States in junior and varsity level domestic and international competitions in 2015.
“I am proud of these two boys,” said St. Thomas Aquinas rugby coach Tim Kluempers, who has been selected to the All-American team coaching staff. “They have a lot of work ahead of them to get ready for the trials. I am grateful and humbled by the opportunity to coach. Rugby is beginning to make headway in the Midwest as a spring sport.”
