Cast auditions for The Theatre In the Park’s 2014 season will be held March 1 and 2 at Blue Valley High School, 6001 W. 159th St.
Directors of the 2014 season will conduct the auditions and select casts for their shows.
Kevin Bogan will direct “Pirates of Penzance” June 6-14, Hank Koehn directs “Guys and Dolls” June 20-28, Greg Shaw directs “Honk” July 4-12, Bess Wallerstein directs “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer” July 18-26 and Mark Swezey directs “Ragtime” Aug. 1-9.
Selected performers must commit to a six-week rehearsal schedule and six production dates, said Tim Bair, producing artistic director. To audition they must be at least 7 years old, bring their own sheet music and be prepared to sing 16 measures of a song of their choice. An accompanist will be provided.
Auditions start at 9 a.m. each morning and people can register as late as 4 p.m. each day.
Instructions for performers who are unable to tryout in person and wish to submit a video audition will be posted after Feb. 15 on The Theatre’s websitewww.theatreinthepark.org/auditions.
Call backs, by invitation only, are March 8 and 9 at Blue Valley High School. Cast selections will be posted on The Theatre’s websitewww.theatreinthepark.org
by mid-March, Bair said.
“We’re expecting close to 700 performers from the metropolitan area to audition this year. We had about 650 last year,” Bair said.
