Authorities have identified an 89-year-old man from Belton who died in a one-vehicle crash Wednesday morning in Morgan County.
According to a crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Richard L. Kent was driving southbound in a 2005 Chrysler minivan at around 9:45 a.m. Wednesday when the crash happened on Missouri 135, north of McCasland Road.
The report said Kent’s minivan exited the left side of the highway for unknown reasons, struck a ditch, a fence and then a tree. Kent was pronounced dead at the scene by an assistant coroner of Morgan County, and next of kin was notified.
The driver was not wearing a seat belt, according to the report.
The Morgan County Sheriff’s Office helped investigate the crash with the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
The crash marks the third fatality for the month of July in Troop F and the 32nd for 2017.
