Schools in the Independence School District are participating this week in The Great Kindness Challenge, and activities vary from school to school.
They range from a kindness chain at Little Blue Elementary, created each time a student does something nice for someone, to a “Kindness Matters” sign placed on U.S. 24 by students at William Chrisman High School, who have set a goal of doing10,000 acts of kindness for the week.
“We are working together, as a district, to create a culture of kindness in our buildings and beyond,” said Nancy Lewis, the district’s director of public relations and communications and director of character education.
Never miss a local story.
Schools are involving parents in the effort, too.
