Outstanding orators: Members of varsity and novice debate and forensics squads recently placed at Northland tournaments.
Winning first place at the Park Hill Varsity Tournament were Michael Chapman in poetry and Conner Paulson in storytelling. Summer Blankenship placed second in humorous interpretation.
At the Oak Park Novice Tournament, first-place winners were Sarah Cowan in dramatic interpretation, Sadik Mohamed in foreign extemporaneous and Cassie Sisson in storytelling.

Park Hill High School
Musical comedy opens: The curtain rises on “The Producers” at 7 p.m. Thursday in the school’s Performing Arts Center at 7701 N.W. Barry Road.
Eric Mathis plays the role of theatrical producer Max Bialystock and Payton Dishman appears as his timid accountant, Leo Bloom. Together, they swindle money to produce what is believed to be the biggest Broadway flop in history.
The show has mature themes and targets stereotypes through satire. Tickets are $9 at the door and $5 for Park Hill High School students. The musical also is performed on Friday and Saturday.
