School superintendent chosen
HARRISONVILLE | The Harrisonville School District has chosen Dennis “Frank” Dahman is its new superintendent. For the last four years, he has been superintendent of the Miami R-1 School District based in Amoret, Mo.
The Harrisonville district said Dahman is a native of Butler, Mo., and has 26 years’ experience as an educator.
He earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Central Missouri, where he also received an Educational Specialist degree in superintendency.
Dahman and his wife live in Harrisonville, and their two children are graduates of the Harrisonville School District, according to a district press release.
Dahman replaces Bryan McDonald, who resigned in late January. Tim Ryan has been interim superintendent.
Amoret is in Bates County, just south of Cass County.
Mayoral forum on March 24
KANSAS CITY | Mayoral candidates Clay Chastain, incumbent Sly James and Vincent Lee have been invited to a candidate forum from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. March 24 at All Souls Unitarian Universalist Church, 450l Walnut St.
It’s sponsored by the local League of Women Voters.
Arts/music festival finds main sponsor
RAYTOWN | The city announced this week that Dick Smith Ford is this year’s Platinum festival sponsor for the 2015 Raytown Arts & Music Festival
The company has agreed to a $5,000 sponsorship and will match half of the next $10,000 raised for the event.
Brewer & Shipley will again headline this year’s event, which will be Aug. 29 at C. Lee Kenagy Park, 9608 E 79th St.
