Health insurance counselors will be available to answer questions about the Affordable Care Act on Tuesday mornings through August in Liberty.

“It’s an outreach we’re doing pretty much on a weekly basis through the summer,” said James Torres, health insurance marketplace coordinator at Samuel U. Rodgers Health Center.

“If they’ve had a life-changing event, they may even be able to apply now even though open enrollment is closed through the year.”

The Tuesday sessions will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Clay County Public Health Center, 800 Haines Drive.

Counselors may also be able to help people who didn’t qualify last year for the health insurance marketplace to apply for an exemption. Reasons include financial need and other circumstances that affect someone’s ability to get insurance, he said.

Open enrollment is Nov. 15 through Feb. 15.

“Anybody who is uninsured or who wants to see if they can get cheaper insurance can apply at that time,” said Torres.
