Happy to meet you, Northlanders!

Starting this week, I’m assuming the editor’s role for the 816 North news magazine, which will mark its first anniversary in September. I’m eager to take on this responsibility.

816 North is The Star’s vehicle in the Northland for what’s known as “community journalism,” and I believe that’s an important calling for this newspaper. From local elections to what’s going on in our cities and school districts, this is news you won’t find on cable TV or the nightly newscast.

I know you count on The Star to keep you informed, and we will do our best in that regard. But I also welcome your ideas on news and feature topics that we can address.

Please drop me a line at I’d love to know about fascinating people in your neighborhoods; government action — or inaction — that’s of concern to you; interesting businesses, and the good work done by local organizations.

I hope to hear from you.
