Teddy bears for kids
Gary Crossley Ford employees collected and donated more than 100 Teddy bears to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office in December.
The Teddy bears will be kept in patrol cars for deputies to distribute to children who are victims of crimes or who witness difficult situations.
Children can be involved in crisis situations ranging from a car accident to possibly a homicide or suicide, said Lt. Will Akin. “With the use or introduction of something as simple as a Teddy bear after they have been removed from the situations, we see them calm down.”
Each patrol car carries a few Teddy bears and donated quilts which can be given to children, he said.
The generous donation from Gary Crossley Ford filled five 55-gallon bags and some boxes, said Akin.
“It’s always very appreciated when people donate not only their time, but goods like Teddy bears and quilts to the sheriff’s office,” he said.
