Musicians chosen: Band and orchestra students were named to regional and state bands.
Selected for the University of Missouri-Kansas City Honor Band Festival and Symposium were Abigail Bavuso and Jackson Sterling, who play clarinet, and percussionists Jacob Fullinwider, Rebecca Hollar and Peyton Smith.
They will participate in clinics and rehearsals and perform in concert on Feb. 14 at UMKC.
Cecelia Cook was chosen by audition for the All-State Orchestra and will perform at the convention of the Missouri Music Educators Association in January. She plays the viola.
Bryce Lindaman was named first alternate cello and Zoe Moody, second alternate viola.
Zachary Garland-Foster will perform with the Missouri All-State Jazz Band on Jan. 30 at Tan-Tar-A Resort in Osage Beach. He earned the second tenor saxophone chair, the second alto saxophone chair and was named the baritone saxophone alternate. He chose the second alto chair.
Earning All-State Jazz Band Honorable Mention was Benjamin Tervort. Kaitlyn Ritter, who earned 11th chair in the All-State Band Honorable Mention.
Honors graduates: Northland students were awarded undergraduate degrees with honors designations during the commencement ceremony earlier this month.
Graduating with top honors, summa cum laude, were Grant Baker of Parkville; Misty Borden of Platte City; Erin Goertz of Gladstone; Emily Grinstead of Gladstone; Alexander Hahn of Liberty: Zachary Koffenberger of Gladstone; Natalie Motta of Liberty; Shelby Murphy of Kansas City, North; Shannon Stark of Parkville; Savanah Tannehill of Kansas City, North; Leann Williams of Kansas City, North; and Jordin Willett of Liberty.
Summa cum laude graduates hold at least a 3.9 cumulative grade-point average.
Students graduating magna cum laude hold at least a 3.7 grade-point average. Northland graduates earning the magna cum laude distinction were Mary Katherine Distasio of Kansas City, North; Jessica Harness of Liberty; Kriti Kafle of Parkville; Katelyn Knoche of Holt; Michael Kwiatkowski of Weston; Greg Porter of Kansas City, North; and Alec Walworth of Kearney.
Northland students graduating cum laude were Camillie Aton, Nicole Eggermont and Evelyn Griffith, all of Kansas City, North. Cum laude graduates hold at least a 3.5 grade-point average.
