Anyone noticing flames or plumes of smoke the next few days at Kansas City International Airport need not worry.
Firefighter training conducted there by the Kansas City Fire Department Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighting Unit will include crews responding to flames generated on a mobile aircraft trainer. The trainer resembles an aircraft fuselage.
The same training occurred earlier this week at Charles B. Wheeler Downtown Airport.
The fire department, along with the Kansas City Aviation Department, conducts the exercises to maintain proficiency in tactics required to fight aircraft fires, and also to maintain compliance with Federal Aviation Administration guidelines.
