The band Liberty Highway will perform at 7 p.m. Saturday at Gospel Music Heritage, 102 Lewis St., Edgerton.
The band plays acoustic bluegrass and Gospel music.

Oak Grove Park:
Jane Yolen’s children’s story “Off We Go!” is featured on the second giant Storybook Trail at Oak Grove Park through July 20.
Children and their parents are invited to walk the trail from 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day.
Outdoor story times are planned at 10 a.m. July 17 and 20 in the large shelter house at the park.
Sponsors of the event are the city of Gladstone, Mid-Continent Public Library, Clay County Health Department and North Kansas City School District.

Children ages 3 through sixth grade are invited to attend evening Vacation Bible School at Avondale United Methodist Church 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. July 28-Aug. 1.

.Gladstone health fair
Gladstone will host a health fair 9 a.m. to noon, July 24 at the Gladstone Community Center.
A registered dietitian will be available and vendors will address health issues such as foot health and muscle and joint relief.
Free cholesterol, glucose and prostate screenings will be done by North Kansas City Hospital.
New this year are Vitamin D screenings for $45; and TSH or thyroid screenings for $25.
Door prizes will be given away.

VSI recently held its 2013 Community Awards Night to honor those who support the organization and its developmentally disabled employees.
Awards presented were:
VSI Vendor of the Year Award to Bruce Culley, CPA, P.C.; VSI Customer of the Year to Farmland Foods; Benefactor’s Award to I.O.O.F Oliver P. Gentry Lodge; Legislator of the Year Award to Rep. Myron Neth; Parent/Guardian of the Year Award to Julie Hentges; Director’s Award to Richard “Mo” McCullough, Legislative Consultant for the Missouri Association of Sheltered Workshop Managers; Clay County Employer of the Year to Cedars of Liberty; Platte County Employer of the Year to Lowes store No. 1078; Volunteer of the Year Award to Jerry Davis; Working for the Public Good Award to Pam Mason, Clay County Presiding Commissioner; VSI Board Member of the Year to the Rev. “I Love Nature”:
The ninth annual children's drawing contest runs through the month of July.
All Northland children ages 5-12 are invited to enter. The topic for this year's contest is "I Love Nature.”
Entry forms are available at the North Kansas City Library or on their website:www.nkcpl.org
. Entries must be submitted by July 31.
Four age categories will be judged by the Northland Art League. First place winners will have their drawings professionally framed and be awarded a $25 gift card.
Winners will be notified by Aug. 4. The award ceremony is Aug. 7. All entries will be displayed during August at the library.
The contest is co-sponsored by the North Kansas City Kiwanis Club, the North Kansas City Public Library, Country Club Bank, and the Northland Art League.
