Two students were among six recipients of cash awards from Kansas City area branches of the American Association of University Women.
Re-entry Awards were given to Cynthia Hart, a junior, and Marie Jean-Baptiste, a senior, on the campus in Parkville. The awards recognize Kansas City area women who have overcome serious obstacles to enter or return to college after being out of school for at least five years.
Hart is majoring in sociology with a minor in psychology. She holds a 3.75 grade-point average and is a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success on campus.
Jean-Baptiste is majoring in biology with a minor in chemistry. She is planning to graduate in December and hopes to attend medical school.Northland Christian School
Fifteen students earned highest ratings in their categories at the Academic and Fine Arts Festival at Blue Ridge Christian School.
Brandon Cole won top honors in two categories: original sermon and drawing. Other winners were Stephen Carney, Madi Green, Jacob Harding, Cameron Higbe, Bethany Koerschgen, Ryan Lammert, Nathan Maples, Wren Martin, Laura Mattson, Erica Pryor, Joy Randle, Rachel Shepherd, Blair Strehlow and Jack Vande Polder.
Northland Christian School at 4214 N.W. Cookingham Road in Kansas City, North, includes preschool through 12th grades.Liberty High School
Students were selected by tryouts for the 2013-2014 team.
Members are Alanis Butler, Destiny Hubbard, Marci McCann, Sydney McCubbin, Delaney Mose, Mary Mwaura, Faith Ordonio, Noelle Prideaux, Jo Robinson, Riley Shelton, Rachel Untch and Callie White.
