A video produced by seventh-graders Kaden Evans, Harper Ross and Courtney Simpson was named 2013 Best Middle School Bully Prevention Video.
The video, entitled “Don’t Be a Bully, Be a Friend,” was chosen at the international conference of the Association for Positive Behavior Support. The students created a video about acknowledging and accepting individual differences and preventing bullying.Park Hill School District
Six sophomores have been chosen for the Missouri Scholars Academy.
They are Jacque Aguirre, Annie Chen, Grace Lackey and Stephen Swett from Park Hill High School and Nicholas Eischens and Camden Moffet from Park Hill South.
Statewide, 330 gifted students are accepted to the three-week summer academic program on the campus of the University of Missouri in Columbia.Lewis and Clark Elementary School
Posters created by Allison Hinkley and Brock Kruske won top honors in a contest sponsored by the Missouri Association for Pupil Transportation.
The theme for the contest was school bus safety. Hundreds of entries from students in kindergarten through eighth grade across the state were submitted.North Kansas City School District
Three seventh-graders earned Grand Recognition in the Duke University Talent Identification Program.
They are Shelby Glass of New Mark Middle School, Sophie Marrs of Eastgate and Harper Ross of Antioch.
The students were selected as academically talented based on college-entrance exam scores. They qualified for Grand Recognition by scoring at the highest levels on the ACT or SAT test, which measures the aptitude of college-bound high school seniors.
Grand winners are invited to attend a ceremony in May at Duke University in Durham, N.C.Liberty North High School
The varsity Scholar Bowl team won the title in March at the Greater Kansas City Suburban Tournament.
Team members were Craig Allen, Zach Brewer, Xavier Chacon, Seth Davis, Josh Ehrich, Alexandrya Havener, Timmy Haynes, Regan Jacobs, Nick Present, Josh Reeves, Emily Spittler and Katie Wadle.
The Liberty North Eagles Varsity Scholar Bowl team finished the tournament with a 3-1 overall record.
