North Kansas City Kiwanis Club
Seniors selected: Scholarships were awarded to high school graduates of the North Kansas City School District.
Recipients of the $2,000 scholarships were Kyra Manlove of North Kansas City High School, Lauren Sullivan of Oak Park High School, Courtney Hittle of Staley High School and Heather Pennington of Winnetonka High School.
Manlove and Hittle were members of the National Honor Society. Sullivan was co-president of Key Club at Oak Park and Pennington was a member of Key Club and vice president of the Creative Writing Club at Winnetonka.
The North Kansas City Kiwanis Club sponsors the Key Clubs at Oak Park and Winnetonka.
Northland Career Center
National conference: Northland students attended the 50th annual SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference in June in Louisville, Ky.
Abigale Leu of Park Hill High School and Sam McKennon of Liberty North High School represented Missouri as 2015-2016 state officers.
National Merit Scholarship Corp.
New winners: Northland students have been awarded scholarships financed by colleges and universities.
The scholarship recipients are Mrudula Gandham of Park Hill High School, Dustin Gier of Oak Park High School, Christopher Rick of Smithville High School and Julie Youngers of North Kansas City High School.
They are among 1,700 recipients nationwide announced in July. They join 2,200 other winners announced in May.
Platte County R-3 High School
National competition: Students participated in the Future Business Leaders of America contest earlier this month in Chicago.
Fourteen R-3 students competed and several teams placed in the top 15. Lauryn Masters earned a $100 cash award in the business financial plan category.
Students advanced to the national level after placing in district and state competition.
