Platte County R-3 High School
Leaders recognized: Graduating seniors were recognized for their service on the school’s Character Council.
Presented certificates were Aubrey Awe, Abbi Bergstrom, Josh Eastman, Allison Jarombek, Kelsey Jepson, Daniya Mozaffar, Nolan Orf, Aaron Reichert, Jordan Richardson, Teryn Scott, Nathan Straubel, Mailia Waddell, Allie Wilhelm and Hannah Zavala.
Character Council is a collaboration between the school district and Platte County University of Missouri Extension/4-H. Council members teach activities on avoiding prejudice to sixth-grade classrooms.
Kearney High School
Musician selected: Kali Dodd, a senior, won the Northwinds Symphonic Band’s Young Artist Competition.
Dodd plays the French horn. The competition required students to submit a recording of a solo performance. Finalists then auditioned before a panel of judges.
Dodd received a $1,000 scholarship for winning the competition. She is also a three-time all-state band member.
West Platte High School
Scholars chosen: Eight students received KCI Conference Scholar Athlete awards this month at a ceremony at Plattsburg High School.
They were Kaleb Baber, Hank Bartee, Harper Euwer, Ben Heili, Sadie Kleman, Lauren Moose, Conner Salmons and McKaulley Stephenson.
Students are chosen based on grade-point average and ACT score. The students also must have earned letters in at least two Missouri State High School Activities Association sports.
Kansas State University
Sophomore honors: Brooke Hall of Kansas City, North, was selected for Silver Key, a sophomore leadership honor society.
To be selected, students must hold at least a 3.0 grade-point average and be entering their sophomore year in the 2015-2016 academic year. Members organize and participate in community service projects.
