North Kansas City School District
Administrator hired: Tim Gallagher has been named assistant superintendent of finance and operations.
For the past five years, Gallagher has served as superintendent of the Sherwood Cass R-8 School District in Creighton. Previously he was a middle school principal in the Fort Osage and Crest Ridge school districts.
He is a former president of the Missouri Association of Elementary School Principals.
Schools selected: Four district elementary schools were recognized at the Gold level during the School-Wide Positive Behavior conference this summer in Osage Beach.
They were Clardy, Gashland and West Englewood elementary schools and Eastgate Middle School.
The conference identifies schools for encouraging positive student behavior, preventing disruptive behavior and tailoring supports to individual student needs.
Graduate degrees: Northland students have been awarded master’s degrees or graduate certificates.
Earning the degrees or certificates were James M. Brosnan from Camden Point; Paula Sue Drescher and Paula Sue Paden from Dearborn; Jill Kujawa and Marci Ann Linnenburger from Excelsior Springs; Ebony King from Gladstone; Angela Sue Floersch, Victoria S. Geoghegan and Julie Miller from Liberty; and Robin L. Graves from North Kansas City.
Zachary Davies, Abigail Dearing, Michael Naas and Hadeel Mahmoud Qari from Parkville; Jennifer Morelock and Nicole Sanders from Platte City; Paul Rodriguez and Neelam Sharma from Riverside; Clara Steffen and Mika Tyhurst from Smithville; Matthew Moratz from Weatherby Lake; and Larry LaRoe from Weston.
Student leader: Margarita Araiza, a graduate of Oak Park High School, was recognized on the Parkville campus with the Dr. Doris Howell Leadership Award.
Recipients are chosen who exemplify integrity, inclusiveness and responsibility. They also must be truthful and respectful in word, work and conduct.
Araiza is a senior majoring in secondary education/biology from Kansas City, North.
