Girl Power Leadership Academy will host 2014 Miss Missouri Jessica Hartman at the annual camp for girls March 27-28.
The annual event, held for girls in sixth through eighth grades, is held at Camp New Hope in Holt.
Hartman will lead a hands-on workshop, Beauty and Brains.
“Her whole platform is empowering youth, especially with STEM education (science, technology, engineering and mathematics). It’s going to be really hands on. I think the girls are going to have a really fun time this year,” said Rashana Peterson, Youth Prevention Specialist at Tri-County Mental Health Services which sponsors Girl Power.
Other workshops will include self-esteem, nutrition, self-defense, bullying, leadership and community.
Girls in Clay, Platte or Ray counties are invited to participate. Registration is $30. Registration deadline is March 20.
Camp New Hope is at 21209 N.E. 188th St., Holt.
