The Miss Zona Rosa and Miss Zona Rosa Outstanding Teen pageants are this Saturday in Platte City.
The winner of the Miss Zona Rosa Pageant will compete in the Miss Missouri contest which is a state preliminary to the Miss America pageant in September.
The pageants will be held at 7 p.m. in the Wilson Auditorium at Platte County R-3 High School, 1501 Branch Street, Platte City. Tickets are $10.
On-stage competition that night includes lifestyle and fitness, talent, evening wear and on-stage question.
“Ultimately the pageant is about education for these girls. The Miss America Pageant is one of the leading providers of scholarships for young women,” said Rosemary Salerno, general manager at Zona Rosa.
“It’s all about scholarships and ultimately over 12,000 young women compete in local competitions across the U.S. We’re proud to have Zona Rosa represented and hopefully the winner will go on and represent us at the Miss America pageant someday.”
At 3 p.m., girls ages 7-12 will compete for the title of Little Miss and Junior Miss North Star. Their events include evening wear and on-stage question.
Miss Missouri 2013 Shelby Ringdahl, who was a top 12 finalist at the Miss America pageant, will serve as emcee for the Miss Zona Rosa pageant. Miss Wisconsin 2013 Paula Kuiper will serve as a guest judge.
