You boast how your car never needs a repair,
Then promptly your tire goes flat (like the spare.)
Or during a ballgame you blurt this misnomer:
Never miss a local story.
“He’s got a no-hitter!” then boom! comes a homer.
It’s really our fault through such lapse of attention;
How often we jinx it with merely a mention.
Malevolent luck you’re inclined to attract;
It’s not superstition, but pretty much fact.
So heed not the doubters, what anyone thinks;
Be always on guard so that you’re not the jinx.
