The body of an apparent drowning victim was recovered Sunday from a pond at Kessler Park, Kansas City Fire Department officals said.
At around 7:30 a.m., police received a call about a potential drowning at the pond, which is located at the intersection of Chestnut Trafficway and Cliff Drive in northeast Kansas City.
A team of searchers combed the pond for more than two hours before recovering the body of the victim, whose identity was not released.
Battalion Chief James Garrett, a fire department spokesman, said the incident still was under investigation.
