A lake accident left an Overland Park teenager seriously injured Saturday night.

Joshua Cowell, 19, was a passenger on a personal watercraft at the Lake of the Ozarks when a second watercraft struck him just before 7 p.m., according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report. The accident occurred as the watercraft were southbound at the 8.5 mile maker of the lake’s Big Niangua Arm.

Cowell was riding a 2006 Yamaha operated by an 18-year-old Overland Park man that was struck by a 2001 Sea Doo operated by a 19-year-old Overland Park man. Cowell was taken to an Osage Beach hospital.
