Woman killed in motorcycle accident

A 49-year-old Gardner woman was killed late Sunday afternoon when a car crossed the median of Highway 32 in Leavenworth County and collided head-on with the motorcycle she was riding as a passenger.
Mary A. Steuber was killed and Kristopher J. Steuber of Gardner, the driver of the motorcycle, was injured when a car driven by Jaime M. Carter, 35, of New Century crossed the median and hit their motorcycle at about 5:40 p.m., according to the Kansas Highway Patrol. Steuber was hospitalized at the University of Kansas Medical Center.
According to the accident report, the Steubers were traveling on Highway 32 on a 2001 Harley Davidson when the eastbound car driven by Carter crossed into their lane about 1.4 miles east of Linwood. Carter was not injured in the accident.
