Two people were injured in a three-car accident on eastbound Interstate 435 in Overland Park early Saturday morning.

Three vehicles were involved in the crash, reported at 6:35 a.m., near the Quivira Road exit, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol, which was still on the scene two hours later.

Two people were taken by ambulance to nearby Overland Park Regional Medical Center, authorities said. No word on the severity of their injuries or whether weather was a factor in the accident.

The accident backed up traffic on eastbound I-435 for more than an hour.
