Kevyn M. Jennings terrorized six women in south Kansas City and Grandview during a six-month crime spree in 2012 that included rape, sodomy, robbery and kidnapping.
After he was caught with his last victim, he was connected to the others through DNA, fingerprints and other evidence. On Tuesday, the 24-year-old with no prior felony convictions pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 50 years in prison.
The Kansas City man was sentenced to 30 years for two counts of forcible sodomy and two counts of forcible rape. He also got 20 years for 16 other counts including kidnapping, robbery and armed criminal action, the Jackson County prosecutor’s office said. The sentences are to run consecutively.
The crimes lasted from June to December. They included anal rape and tying two victims’ hands. In each case Jennings pointed a gun at his victims. He threatened to kill four of the women.
Jennings’ spree culminated with a home invasion in the 11800 block of Newton Avenue where he abducted a woman and forced her to drive to Maple View Park in Grandview. After raping her, he made her drive to an ATM.
Grandview police spotted the reported stolen car and approached. Jennings then ran across Interstate 49 before being arrested.
Kansas City police developed the cases involving the other five victims.
