A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for Kansas City area

A couple rounds of strong to severe thunderstorms could move across the Kansas City area Thursday evening, bringing large hail and damaging straight-line winds. A severe thunderstorm watch has been issues from the National Weather Service and is in effect until 10 p.m. for seven east central Kansas counties and 23 north central Missouri counties.
A line of strong to severe thunderstorms are expected to form this afternoon over eastern Kansas along a cold front, according to the National Weather Service in Pleasant Hill, Mo.
Those storms are expected to move eastward into Missouri. The risk for severe storms will diminish during the late evening hours, according to the National Weather Service.Find updates here
