A motorcyclist died Friday after colliding with a semi-trailer truck in Kansas City.
Ronald Claibourne Jr., 29, was traveling east on East 31st Street about 11:30 a.m. when the collision occurred at Van Brunt Boulevard, according to Sgt. Deb Randol, Kansas City police accident investigations supervisor.
“Witnesses said he was trying to get through the intersection before the light turned red,” Randol said of the motorcyclist.
The driver of the semi-trailer truck already had begun making a left turn to go south on what at that intesection becomes Emanuel Cleaver II Boulevard. The motorcycle and rider, Randol said, went underneath the truck and were run over by its rear tires.
The truck driver was not injured.
While no charges have been filed, the accident continues to be investigated.
