Twitter unveils new profile design that looks a lot like Facebook

Twitter has made some major changes to its users’ profile pages — some of which have been compared to the layout of Facebook.

Users may log in the next few weeks to see a bigger profile picture, a bigger banner picture and bigger photos popping up in their feed.

Users’ “best tweets,” ones that are being viewed or shared the most, will appear larger on the page, and tweets can be “pinned” to the top of the page so users can select what followers see first.

Twitter has also incorporated a filter, so users can select what they want to see when viewing other profiles. Tweeters can choose to see only tweets, tweets with photos or tweets with replies.

Only a small group of users will see the new design on Tuesday, and Twitter will continue to roll out the new design in the coming weeks.

To see the new format, Twitter recommends users view the following profiles:

Film stars @zacefron and @channingtatum French TV host @nikosaliagas Australian Football League @AFL First Lady Michelle Obama @flotus Brazilian singer, guitarist, and songwriter @gilbertogil Boxer @FloydMayweather TV star @kerrywashington Musicians @JohnLegend and band @weezer
