Stephen Barrows, an economics professor at Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, Mich., doesn’t mess around when it comes to cell phones in his classroom.

If a student’s phone rings, they have to take the call on speaker phone for everyone to hear.

It was the perfect set-up, then, for an April Fool’s joke that has gone viral in the last couple of days.

We won’t spoil the surprise here, but here’s the setup.

Student Taylor Nefcy’s phone rings in class.

Barrows tells her to answer it.

The rest is YouTube history.

We give Barrows an A for being a good sport about it.
