In February 1999, she won five Grammy awards for her debut solo album, “The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill.” A few days later, she performed to a sold-out crowd at the Midland theater. She hasn’t been back to Kansas City since. After years of exile and withdrawal from the music scene, she has returned.

On June 16, a Monday, Lauryn Hill, the former singer of the Fugees, will return to Kansas City to perform at the Uptown Theater. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday via

Ticketmaster. Tickets will cost $59.50 to $125.
