Southbound I-470 shuts down for evidence search

Lee’s Summit police said officers will have to shut down and slow traffic north of Colbern Road while a search is conducted for physical evidence related to a highway shooting Tuesday night.

Traffic will be disrupted for the next hour or so on southbound Interstate 470 as investigators search for physical evidence in connection with a shooting Tuesday night.

The incident was one of two highway shootings that occurred close to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday in eastern Jackson County.

A motorist was hit by a bullet near Interstate 70 and Woods Chapel Road in Blue Springs. The Lee’s Summit incident on I-470 caused no injuries.
