A Kansas City man charged with involuntary manslaughter in the death of a toddler killed in a traffic crash last summer has been arrested.

Eric L. Gahagans, 23, was charged last week in Jackson County Circuit Court in the July 28 death of 17-month-old Cheekeerah Miracle-Jones.

He allegedly had consuming marijuana and was driving without a valid license when the crash happened at Interstate 470 and Blue Ridge Boulevard.

Cheekeerah was thrown from the vehicle. Investigators determined that she was not properly secured in her car seat, and the car seat was not properly secured in the vehicle, according to court documents.
