A woman and two men have been charged in the killing of a man last week at his home in Kansas City’s East Bottoms.
Jackson County prosecutors said Monday that Terrance Brown, 37; Tionna M. Vanross, 27; and Wayne Fielder, 48; all of Kansas City, Kan., were each charged with second-degree murder, armed criminal action and stealing a controlled substance in the March 10 shooting death of Clite Weibel, 75. Vanross and Fielder also were charged with first-degree burglary.
Weibel was found dead March 10 in a chair in his residence in the 800 block of North Kansas Avenue.
Prosecutors alleged that the three went to Weibel’s house intending to rob him and that he was shot as they were fleeing.
According to court documents, Weibel was found with a handgun in his lap. It appeared to officers that he had fired at least once.
Vanross later went to a hospital with a gunshot wound to the arm and told police she had been shot in Kansas City, Kan. Detectives used cellphone records and video surveillance from Weibel’s residence to link the three to the scene.
