Kansas City police on Monday identified a man fatally shot early Sunday as Andreas Carmona, 19, of Kansas City, Kan.

Police received a report about 1:10 a.m. that occupants of two vehicles were shooting at each other near 16th Terrace and White Avenue. When officers arrived, they found shell casings but no vehicles or victims.

About 10 minutes later, Carmona arrived at St. Luke’s Hospital, where he had been driven by a friend. Carmona soon died.

About the same time, a second shooting victim arrived at a different hospital. He told police he was shot while walking near Truman Road and Belmont Avenue.

Investigators believe both men were shot in the same incident, but police were trying to determine the role of each person and what sparked the shooting.
