Community technology center invites patrons in KCK

Free computer training and public access is being offered in a new technology center in a Kansas City, Kan., public housing neighborhood.

The Northeast Wyandotte County Community Technology Center will hold a public grand opening from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. March 14 at 2006 N. 3rd St.

The computer access and training center is a project of Connecting for Good and the Kansas City Kansas Housing Authority, which operates the Juniper Gardens public housing community where the center is located.

Michael Liimatta, Connecting for Good president, said the center is available to all residents of the neighborhood. Qualifying low-income residents who complete the center’s free computer- use classes can buy refurbished computers from the center for $50.
