A high school prom can be too expensive for some families, but students at Lee’s Summit High School are trying to make prom attire more affordable through “Operation Prom.”
The school is accepting donations — including dresses, dress pants and shirts, ties, accessories, shoes, suit jackets and tuxedos — which will be sold from 1 to 3 p.m. March 22 at the school’s “A” gymnasium.
Items for purchase will be marked with a small monetary (suggested) donation, or participants may bring an item to exchange for another item of similar value. The sale is open to prom-goers from the Lee’s Summit area.
Donations may be dropped off at the school’s main office, 400 S.E. Blue Parkway, through March 21.
