Kansas City police on Monday identified a woman who died early Sunday after her car slid off a snow-covered roadway as Shannon Kafrouni, 31, of Grain Valley.

Kafrouni was northbound on South Noland Road just south of Murkins Road about 4 a.m. when she lost control on a curve. Her vehicle slid off the right side of the road and struck several trees. She was not wearing her seat belt. She died at the scene.

Police cited the weather as a contributing factor in the wreck.
