Car thieves have had a busy week in Overland Park. And too many car owners are making it easy for them.
Since Monday, eight vehicles have been stolen after they were left warming up outside residences in the northern part of the city, police said.
Three of the thefts occurred Tuesday and four were reported Wednesday morning. All of the crimes occurred in the morning, roughly between 6 and 8:30 a.m.
The first happened Monday in the 8900 block of Melrose Street.
The three on Tuesday were reported in the 9700 block of Antioch Road, the 6800 block of West 72nd Terrace and the 4700 block of Craig Lane.
Wednesday’s thefts occurred in the 9200 block of Antioch, the 3400 block of Merriam Drive, the 10200 block of West 80th Street and the 7700 block of Lowell Avenue.
Police remind people not to leave their vehicles running and unattended, even briefly.
