A man shot in the buttocks and leg Wednesday afternoon near his Kansas City apartment ran to a nearby high school for help.
The man was shot during an altercation near Linwood Boulevard and Broadway about 3:40 p.m. His neighbors heard the gunfire.
He ran about a half mile east to Cristo Rey Kansas City, where police were called.
The man’s injuries were not life-threatening. The victim was with a friend who was not hit by gunfire, said Police Officer Darin Snapp.
Two people fled the scene. Police believe the victim knew the shooters.
Detectives were trying to determine exactly where the shooting occurred so they could look for evidence.
A crime scene van headed to the scene collided with another vehicle about 4:40 p.m. at Linwood and Broadway.
The van was pulling out of a parking lot when it collided with a car that came from behind a patrol car that was blocking traffic.
No one was hurt in the wreck.
