President Barack Obama nominated Kansas City personal injury lawyer Stephen R. Bough on Thursday for a federal judgeship in western Missouri.

Bough began his career in 1997 as a law clerk for U.S. District Judge Scott O. Wright and left two years later to enter private practice. He has served as chair of the Jackson County Democratic Committee and as a commissioner on the Jackson County Sports Complex Authority.

He received his undergraduate degree from Missouri State University and attended law school at the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
