A Lee’s Summit teenager was in serious condition New Year’s Day after his truck veered off the highway near Lone Jack on U.S. 50.
Jacob L. Ellis, 19, was westbound in a Suburban around 4:15 a.m. when the vehicle went off the right side of the road west of Outer Belt Road. The truck hit an embankment, went airborne and flipped multiple times before striking a fence, the Missouri Highway Patrol reported. The driver was not wearing a seat belt.
Ellis was taken to an area hospital by the Lone Jack Fire Department.
