A full morning of English soccer and a 3v3 tournament are in store at the Liberty Memorial on the day after Christmas, or Boxing Day in England.
The monument will have a watch party of English Premier League games beginning at 8:30 a.m. Title contenders Manchester City and Liverpool play at 11:30 a.m. There will also be a “truce tournament” on the lawn. Food and drinks will be provided. Team entry is $180. Registration closes Friday. The watch party is $20. Sporting Kansas City is a sponsor. Proceeds will benefit the Victory Project for Kansas City children with cancer.
The event is keyed to a one-day truce on the Western Front in 1914 as World War I combatants left their trenches to play soccer.
