Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles was selected AFC offensive player of the week for his five-touchdown performance last Sunday at Oakland.
Charles had eight catches for 195 yards and four touchdowns in becoming the first NFL running back to catch four touchdown passes in a game. His five total touchdowns tied the franchise record set by Abner Haynes in 1961.
The award gives the Chiefs a grand slam in AFC player of the week awards. Linebacker Tamba Hali (twice) and Justin Houston have been defensive player of the week; and kick returner Dexter McCluster and Ryan Succop have been special teams honorees; and Houston was defensive player of the month for September.
