Icy conditions likely caused fatal Kearney wreck

A truck driver transporting propane was killed in a single-vehicle accident Friday morning in Kearney, according to the Clay County Sheriff’s office.
The victim’s name and age were not released, pending notification of relatives. The accident was reported just after 9 a.m. at Northeast 142nd Street and Petty Road.
According to initial reports, the driver was unable to negotiate a curve due to icy road conditions. His truck slid off the road and struck a tree.
The driver was unresponsive when deputies and paramedics arrived. Efforts to revive him were not successful.
