Two people were injured, at least one seriously, in a head-on collision Thursday near Liberty Hospital.
Police were responding to a reported attempted burglary and looking for a gray Jeep Cherokee when they learned of the crash on Glenn Hendren Drive. One of the vehicles was a gray Jeep Cherokee, which burst into flames. Emergency radio traffic said both drivers were trapped and extrication equipment was called for. The male driver of the Jeep was taken to Liberty Hospital with serious injuries. The female driver of the other car was also taken to the hospital but police did not know the extent of her injuries. Police were investigating whether the Jeep was related to the attempted burglary.
