Kansas City-based DST Systems Inc. is opening a second office in India, where it now employs about 1,500.

DST said the site in Pune, India, will open next year with room for 500 employees. DST has operated in Hyderabad, India, since 2008.

“The Pune location provides access to a new workforce across several competency areas,” the DST announcement said.

Both offices are part of DST Worldwide Services, which has about 2,000 employees in India, Thailand and the United States. It does technology development, support, processing and consulting work for mostly financial and health care firms.

Globally, DST has 11,925 employees, according to its most recent annual report. The total includes 8,025 in the United States.
